Experiencing an unforgettable Disney trip

Posted

After four years of anticipation in Hewlett High School’s music department, I finally participated in the well-known, highly regarded trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

This trip occurs every four years, allowing each music student the chance to attend. Finally experiencing this trip firsthand from April 7-10, I can definitely vouch that its reputation is true: the trip is unforgettable.

The teachers and administrators of the music department organized each part of the trip meticulously in advance to ensure the best possible experience for the students. For many, this was their first time at Disney World.

The orchestra and chorus ensembles both performed on stage at Disney Springs on Friday. The hard work of the students and teachers clearly paid off as the large crowd cheered after each piece. The orchestra featured a variety of music from different cultures, including a medley of Disney tunes. The chorus impressed the audience with a unique program that included a Latin song which featured a vocal solo and percussion instrumentation.

Hewlett’s Marching Band and Color Guard performed on the final night of the trip in Magic Kingdom’s Electric Light Parade. After months of practicing at the high school’s outdoor track, students were extremely excited to perform down Main Street and into Frontierland.

Facing the famous Cinderella Castle ahead and crowds of cheering families to the sides, students entered the parade with massive smiles. The energy generated from the audience sparked the adrenaline within the students who performed the rehearsed routine with ease.
Unfortunately, the parade came to an end, signifying another one of the first lasts in my high school music career.

The trip to Disney World was only one of the incredible opportunities that the music department offered me, and I will always remember it.
