Five Towns Community Reconstruction program committee to host public meeting

On Thursday, the Five Towns Community Reconstruction program committee will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway at 44 Frost Lane in Lawrence.
The committee, chaired by Five Towns Community Chest Executive Director Bob Block, Inwood Civic Association Vice President Pete Sobol and Rabbi Mordechai Kamenetzsky of the Yeshiva of South Shore in Hewlett, will request public input as they develop reconstruction strategies, projects and programs.
The Five Towns is eligible for $27.6 million of more than $750 million in federal funds that are allocated to communities throughout New York State for Hurricane Sandy relief and mitigation.
