HAFTR students hear from an IDF soldier

Posted

Rabbi Eli Skaist, a lieutenant and chaplain in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and rebbe at the Ashreinu Yeshiva in Israel, spoke to Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway Middle School students about the meaning of repentance and said it’s a response to God calling out to us.

Skaist challenged the students to think about what they want to accomplish this school year and recounted stories about soldiers and their heroic deeds, and noted the sacrifices made two of his very close friends, Ezra Schwartz and Rabbi Nechemia Lavi, who were killed in Israel last year. To hear directly from a soldier, hopefully will inspire the students to achieve their goals.
