A Few Clouds Hewlett man arrested for 2011 shooting

Hewlett resident Hamilton Croft was charged in the death of Daniel Flowers, who died on Dec. 31, due to injuries from the 2011 shooting.

Police arrested Hamilton Croft, 38, from Hewlett on Feb. 8 for allegedly shooting Daniel Flowers, then 20, in July 2011. Flowers, a Freeport resident, died from injuries related to being shot on Jan. 2.
On July 3, 2011 after 3 a.m., Flowers was with a group of friends near 302 Main Street in Hempstead, when Croft approached him and shot him, according to police. Flowers was struck in the neck. He was then taken to a hospital and his condition was considered serious. Flowers, 24, went to a hospital on Dec. 31 because of complications from his injuries.
Croft is charged with murder second-degree, and was expected to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 9.
