Honoring Dr. John Santopolo in Woodmere

A street sign was unveiled at the intersection of Cedar Lane and Franklin Place in Woodmere last Sunday to honor the memory of Dr. John L. Santopolo, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in January 2015.

The sign will rename a portion of Franklin Place Dr. John L. Santopolo Place, where Santopolo’s endodontic practice, Long Island Endodontics, continues to serve patients.

Santopolo practiced for nearly 30 years, was involved in professional organizations taught dentistry at Peninsula Hospital before it closed in 2012, grew up in and lived in Hewlett and was instrumental in merging the Hewlett Business Association and Woodmere Merchants Association to become the Hewlett Woodmere Business Association nearly five years ago.
