Five Towns students to perform two plays

Two dramatic productions —“Twelve Angry Women” and “Twelve Angry Men”— are scheduled to take place on Feb. 10-11 at Lawrence High School at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
“Twelve Angry Men” was written by Reginald Rose and performed first in the 1950s. The plays are both about the deliberation of 12 jurors during a murder trial. The productions are in memory of 17-year Inwood firefighter Joseph Sanford Jr., who died on Dec. 23 from injuries due to a fall after he responded to a house fire in Woodmere four days earlier.
He was a lifelong Inwood resident and Lawrence High graduate. His daughter Janisha also graduated from Lawrence. Proceeds from the performances will benefit his the family.
Lawrence School District Music Director Pam Gallopini and co-directors Laila Sales, Thomas Riley and Ryan DeMarco are overseeing the productions. Students from Lawrence High, the, Hebrew Academy of Long Beach, Davis Renov Stahler High School for Boys and the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway will perform in the plays.
A jazz performance and brief ceremony with the color guards from the fire departments who serve the school district be part of the event. The fire departments will also be presented with plaques on both nights
