Hoops for Hope raises nearly $7,000 at Hewlett High School

Thanks to all his hard work and the contributions of donors such as Peninsula Kiwanis the annual Hoops for Hope campaign directed by Hewlett High School varsity boys’ basketball coach Bill Dubin raised roughly $7,000 this year.

Hoops for Hope benefits Hewlett-based SIBSPlace, is a free program of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside founded by Hewlett Harbor resident Michael Schamroth that provides support for children 5-17 who have a sibling or a parent suffering from cancer or another devastating illness.

On Jan. 28, in the 14th annual Hoops for Hope game, the Bulldogs knocked off visiting Division, 71-48, to clinch a playoff spot.
