Inwood Memorial Day Parade honors those who made the supreme sacrifice

Memorial Day, the Monday holiday that commemorates all those who died while in the country’s armed forces, was celebrated one-day earlier in Inwood as the annual parade stepped off from the Long Island Rail Road station at noon on Sunday.

Marchers proceeded up Doughty Boulevard and it ended with a memorial service outside of the John J. Oliveri Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1582. Veteran John Super served as the parade’s grand marshal.

Due to the rain storm on Monday, the Hewlett-Woodmere and Lawrence-Cedarhurst parades were cancelled.
