Inwood robbery part of a pattern

Nassau County police revealed the details on July 26 of an alleged robbery that occurred in Inwood at 4:45 a.m. on May 31, saying it is part of a pattern of similar crimes.

A man, 42, was waiting for a bus at the intersection of Wanser and Lawrence avenues when another man approached him, police said. Several minutes later a black late 1990s Nissan Maxima with black rims dropped off three other men and drove off, according to police.

All four men demanded money from the man and then punched him in the face. The man tried to defend himself, but was then hit several times in the face with a black hand gun, police said. The men took a cell phone and backpack that contained painting supplies. They fled west on Wanser Avenue, then north on Clinton Avenue.

Taken by police ambulance to a local hospital, the man was treated for cuts to his face.

The men are black and the one initially at the bus stop is in his 20s, 5-feet, 6-inches and 180 pounds with corn rows in his hair, according to police, who are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
