Auerbach Lane fire

An Auerbach Lane house in Lawrence caught fire at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 3. The home’s occupants evacuated and no one was injured.
Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Hewlett, Inwood, Woodmere and Valley Stream firefighters fought the blaze for approximately an hour. The fire was located between floors of the two-story house, which made extinguishing it more difficult. The home’s basement and first floor suffered substantial damage and water damaged the second floor.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.
