Cedarhurst Park played host to the lighting of a menorah on the first night of Hanukkah.

Rabbi Schneur Wolowik of the Chabad of the Greater Five Towns led the lighting of the giant menorah in Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park in Cedarhurst on Dec.8, the first night of Hanukkah. In addition to the menorah lighting there was singing and dancing to the traditional holiday songs.
Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day celebration marking the Maccabean revolt, its subsequent victory and the miracle of a small amount of oil that lit the Temple for eight days and eight nights.
