Fair Number Five School celebrates Chinese New Year

Second-graders at the Number Five School made dragons and paraded them around the building in celebration of Chinese New Year. Art teacher Dan Smalley, teacher Linda Soule and student teacher April Acampora worked with second-grader students at the Number Five School in Cedarhurst to create dragons that the students paraded around the building in recognition of the Chinese New Year on Feb. 14.
The annual event was watched by first-, third- and fourth-graders, teachers and school administrators. The students who paraded also played a musical instrument and chanted a Chinese phrase. It is the Year of the Horse for the Chinese people.
