“He shed a lot of tackles today,” Plainedge coach Rob Shaver said of Soriente, who also threw a two-point conversion pass. “I think he had just one big run, but all the others were at least five yards.”
Hewlett cut the deficit to 21-14 by halftime. Schweitzer ran for 29 yards on a misdirection to set up an 11-yard touchdown run by Richman, but the hosts didn’t score again after senior David Ben-Yosef’s extra point.
“We’ll see how we bounce back,” Iaquinta said. “After a loss is when you find out about a team’s character.”
The Bulldogs totaled 117 points in the first three weeks as Richman threw for nine touchdowns with no interceptions. Next up is a trip to Glen Cove this Saturday for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
