Police are investigating a pair of incidents that occurred two days apart, but were eerily similar.

At the intersection of Central Avenue and Doughty Boulevard at 8 a.m. on May 21, a 12-year-old boy was allegedly approached by a black man in a four-door red Mercedes Benz thought to be in his 50s. The man asked the boy if he needed a ride. After the boy said no, the man drove away, according to police.

A girl, 12, was waiting for a bus on Pacific Avenue at 7:56 a.m. on May 23, when an unidentified man described as black with dreadlocks and an accent also allegedly approached in a four-door red Mercedes Benz with a child seat in the backseat of the car, police said. The man also asked the girl if she needed a ride. When another vehicle approached, he fled the scene.

No one was hurt.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding these incidents to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477.
