Easter message

Receiving God's message

Posted

“Faith in the resurrection of Jesus says that there is a future for every human being; the cry for unending life which is part of the person is indeed answered.” With these words, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI reminds us of the true meaning of Easter. After the chocolate bunnies, the colorful eggs and the marshmallow peeps have gone (to our waistlines), a message of faith, hope and love remain!

The gift of faith allows us to understand that God does exist. He is the author and sustainer of all life. He made us. He loves us. He has a plan for each one of us and longs for us to be with Him forever in Heaven.

The promise of hope reminds us that no matter what challenges we face or sufferings we endure, we are not alone. God is with us. He comes to us in the support of family, friends and neighbors. He comes to us in the spiritual comfort of the Sacraments: forgiveness of our sins through Confession, strength though the Anointing of the Sick, and spiritual nourishment through the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion.

The blessings of love are received from God and meant to be shared with everyone we meet. God shows His infinite love for us by sacrificing Himself on the cross for our salvation in the person of Jesus Christ. His resurrection testifies that God’s love is stronger than suffering or even death itself.

Out of the cold and darkness of winter comes the new life of Easter joy. God’s invitation to you now is as strong as ever. Renew your faith, be strengthened in hope, and live in God’s love. The risen Christ is calling you to belong more deeply to him and to discover the joy that only he can offer. May God bless you and your families during this holy season of Easter.
