Inaugural Lawrence Club village competition on Halloween

The trick is to play well, the treat is to win as the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club is looking for golfers to represent their village/community in the club’s inaugural Long Island Village Men’s Team Championship on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31.

Each village/community can enter up to two teams of four amateur players that must be residents of the village/community they are representing. Players must provide two forms of identification to verify their residency (driver’s license, DMV ID card, property tax bill, voter registration card). The field is limited to the first 25 teams that sign up.

Tournament play will feature a four-person scramble format. Player registration is at 10 a.m., and practice facilities and pro shop will open a that time as well. There will be a shotgun start at noon. A barbecue dinner will be served at 5 p.m. The tournament benefits Folds of Honor, an organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of killed or disabled U.S. military veterans.

The $100 per player entry fee includes golf cart, barbecue dinner, prizes and donation to Folds of Honor. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24.
