Two Hewlett Fire Department firefighters were treated for burns as they helped to extinguish fire that severely damaged a house at 806 Plainfield Lane in North Woodmere on Oct. 30, according to department officials.

The call came in at 5:12 a.m., officials said. The fire was on both floors of the two-story house. An elderly woman occupant had evacuated the house before any of the fire departments got to the scene.

“Hewlett Fire Department units executed an aggressive interior attack and the fire was extinguished with the assistance of the Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Valley Stream and Woodmere fire departments,” said Hewlett Chief John Carlo. “The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office.”

Lynbrook, East Rockaway and Meadowmere Park fire departments covered for the responding departments.
