Snowing in the Five Towns

Heavy at times, flooding in Inwood

Posted

For the third time in a little more than two weeks it is snowing in the Five Towns. Plows are out in Lawrence and Atlantic Beach and the storm has caused flooding in Inwood.

Lawrence workers salted the roads and are now doing light salting and plowing. Two inches are needed to plow, but officials said that they must be careful as not all areas of Lawrence may have gotten that much snow.

Atlantic Beach Mayor George Pappas said plows are out in the village and said there is flooding on Bayswater Boulevard in Inwood.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Nassau County and the forecast calls for snow mostly before 4 p.m. Monday with accumulations from 2 to 4 inches.

On Tuesday, periods of snow are forecast totaling up to 2 inches. More snow is expected Tuesday night with 1 to 3 inches accumulating.

A coastal flood advisory will also be in effect from 7 to 11 a.m. on Monday.
