Woman seriously injured in Cedarhurst accident

A 49-year-old woman walking across Peninsula Boulevard at Oxford Road in Cedarhurst was hit by a 2008 Toyota Matrix driven by a man, 63, who was headed west on Peninsula Boulevard at 6:43 p.m. on Feb. 26, according to police.
The woman suffered traumatic head injuries and was taken to a local hospital. She was listed in serious condition, police said.
Police impounded the vehicle for brake and safety checks. Considered a “non-criminal” accident by the police, the investigation is continuing.
Cedarhurst and Lawrence recorded an alarming number of vehicular accidents – 15 – between Oct. 28 and Nov. 26, of last year, that ranged from fender-benders to seriously damaged vehicles and severely injured pedestrians and motorists.
