Woman struck by vehicle in Woodmere

The helicopter took off from the Lawrence Woodmere Academy with the 22-year-old woman aboard on its way to NUMC.

A vehicle apparently struck a 22-year-old woman who was crossing the intersection at Woodmere Boulevard and West Broadway in Woodmere at 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 8, according to police. The woman's age was revised from earlier reports.

The extent of the woman’s injuries are unclear at this time, but she was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. The helicopter landed on the campus of Lawrence Woodmere Academy, which is located at 336 Woodmere Blvd.
