Two men, one described as black between 25-to-30-years-old, allegedly robbed a 20-year-old Woodmere man of his cell phone and took his car keys, and demanded that he give them money after he had arrived at his Neptune Avenue home at 10:28 p.m. on July 23, according to police.
Ordered to open the front door of the house, the resident was lead upstairs by the men, where they demanded he open a safe, police said. When he was unable to open the safe, one of the men hit him on the head with an object the police did not identify.
The men then left the house. Their direction was unknown. The man declined medical attention.
Last year there were a spate of robberies in North Woodmere; seven between April 16 and June 30, and five of them involved safes being stolen or broken into.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the July 23 incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
