Woodsburgh native to wed on Saturday

Tyler Jake Gildin, son of Melissa and William Gilding of Woodsburgh will marry Zara Brandes Richman, daughter of Caryn and Irwin Richman of Commack on Saturday. Rabbi Michael Stanger will officiate the wedding service at Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation in Westbury.

Gildin, 26, is an executive producer at the website Elite Daily in New York City. He is also a stand-up comedian who has performed on Long Island and in the city. He graduated from Hewlett High School in 2007 and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2011 receiving a bachelor’s in television/radio/film from Syracuse University.  

His mother, Melissa Gildin, recently retired after 35 years as a special education teacher at the Woodmere Middle School in the Hewlett-Woodmere School District. His father, William, is the president of Satco Products Inc., a lighting company in Brentwood. Tyler is the grandson of Dr. Kenneth and Ronni Berman and Herbert and Gloria Gildin both formerly of the Five Towns who now live on the island and Florida. 

Richman, 28, works in the Internal Audit department at American Express in New York City. She graduated from Jericho High in 2006 and then earned with a bachelor’s in economics in 2010 from Binghamton University. She also received a master’s in accounting in 2013 from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business. She is  a licensed CPA. Her father works in the catering business in the New York metropolitan area. She is the granddaughter of Diane and Edwin Brandes from Long Island.  

The couple met in New York City in 2012 at a popular bar, and live in Manhattan with their adorable dog, Sammy.
