When Boris Yampolskiy purchased Liquor Warehouse of Freeport two years ago, he had a specific purpose in mind. He wanted to embrace the community he loves by offering a personal touch and great service to his customers, keeping their best interests in mind, treating them like family.

“We are a family-run business, and we get to know our customers by name,” said Yampolskiy, who lives in South Bellmore. “Prices are kept sharply competitive, if not lower in many cases. Our selection is huge. And we promote wine and spirits produced locally.”

The store is kept neat and clean — more than 5,000-square-feet for retail, and 4,000 for storage. At any given time, there are over 7,000 different items on display. Hard-to-find bourbons, scotch whiskey and single malt are a specialty. Spirits and wines are stocked from all over the world, as well as a variety from Long Island and the Finger Lakes vicinity. Kosher options are plentiful as well.

Tastings are a popular event at Liquor Warehouse of Freeport, designed to educate people and expand their palates. Featuring four to eight different wines and spirits, the samplings take place on Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m.

Yampolskiy has been in the wine and spirits industry for more than a decade, so he is quite knowledgeable. He and his experienced staff will happily give recommendations to complement all tastes, occasions, cuisines and budgets. Customer satisfaction is top priority, he stresses.

In-house discounts are offered to law enforcement, firefighters and the military, both current and retired. Liquor Warehouse of Freeport donates to causes and local fundraisers whenever possible. Pricing is also adjusted for bulk purchases, such as for corporate gifting, special events and parties.

Ready-made gift baskets are on display during the holiday seasons, but they can also be ordered and customized at any time. Gift wrapping is complimentary, as is local delivery. Store hours are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday noon to 6:30 p.m.
