Firefighters learn rescue techniques

Several Long Island fire departments, including Lawrence-Cedarhurst participated in a cold-water rescue training program last month.

The Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department took part in a cold-water rescue training program at the Freeport Recreational Center on Feb. 24. The program which included up to 10 other Long Island fire departments aimed to teach firefighters how to self-rescue in the event of a water emergency. Training sessions took place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m.
