Woodmere resident Samantha Spindler and Wendy Lepper of Hewlett were two of the 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni initiated annually into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter; only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Spindler currently is pursuing a degree in anthropology at the University of Michigan, and Lepper was initiated at Fordham University.

At SUNY New Paltz, Jillian Feuerstein, from Hewlett, is part of the cast and crew for Department of Theatre production “The Servant of Two Masters,” which opened on April 11 at Parker Theatre on campus.

In December 2018, than 250 students graduated from SUNY Delhi, including Woodmere’s Ricardo Persaud. Persaud earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural design and building. Also this past December, Ronnie Kissos of Woodmere graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor’s of Arts in computer art.

Hewlett resident Triniti Jones has been accepted at Delaware Valley University commonly referred to as DelVal. Jones was also awarded the one of the school’s top three merit-based admission scholarships, which is based on the student’s grade point average and test scores.

Founded in 1896, DelVal seeks to cultivate an environment of interdisciplinary learning where students can learn on a first-name basis. Through the innovative Experience360 Program, DelVal students acquire real-world experience in their fields.

Zachary Fuchs and Moshe Krengel, both of Cedarhurst, and Lawrence resident Eliezer Silverman were named to the honor’s list for the fall semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan campus. To qualify, a student must carry a 3.5 or better GPA out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
