Five Towns village election results are in

The results are in for the village elections in the Five Towns.

In Lawrence, Deputy Mayor Michael Fragin and Trustee Daniel J. Goldstein were re-elected in an uncontested race with 155 and 139 votes. Robert Sharaby and Emily Edelman received two write-in votes for trustee. 

Village Justice Gary Mandel won re-election with 184 votes. Mandel will complete former Village Justice Donald Buchalter’s unexpired term, then run for the full four-year term in 2020. Yossef Nussbaum received six write-in votes while David Weinstein, Elliot Berger and Elliot Schwab each received one write-in vote.

Atlantic Beach Trustees Andrew Rubin and Danae Muddiman won re-election with 48 and 43 votes, respectively. Both candidates ran unopposed.


Hewlett Harbor Deputy Mayor Leonard Oppenheimer and incumbent Trustee Jonathan Polakoff ran unopposed and won re-election with 74 and 73 votes, respectively. This will be Oppenheimer’s sixth term and Polakoff’s third term.

In Woodsburgh, Mayor Lee Israel, Trustees Alan Hirmes and Jacob Harman won re-election with 13 votes each.

Hewlett Neck incumbent Trustees Brett Cooper and Michael Levine earned re-election with 13 and 12 votes, respectively.

Hewlett Bay Park Deputy Mayor Alex Salomon (15) and Trustee Jay Levy (15) were re-elected.

All mayoral and trustee terms are for two years. Every candidate ran unopposed.
