When people are in need and problems need to solved there are certain people who dive in and help. In the Jewish culture it is called ba’alei chesed, being kind, considerate and giving. At the 16th annual Marion & Aaron Gural JCC fundraising gala, five people who comport themselves in that manner were honored at the Mansion at Lawrence on May 30.

Amy and Ilan Mosery are the Gural JCC People of the Year, Ric Michel was presented with the Harrison-Kerr Community Achievement Award and Perri Kaye and Stephanie Ulmer both received the Chesed Award.

The Harrison-Kerr Family Campus at 140 Central Ave., Lawrence, was dedicated and Lawrence resident Ben Brafman served as the event’s emcee.
