Hewlett High school graduate wins Nassau BOCES award

Hewlett High School graduate Faiz Kapadwala, a Nassau BOCES Barry Tech alum and a project manager in Telecommunication for Emergent Wireless Solutions, is being recognized as one of the most devoted supporters of public education on Long Island.

Kapadwala is among 14 honorees to receive the 2017 Nassau BOCES Education Partner award, given annually to people and organizations whose impact on public education in Nassau County can be measured in tangible ways.
He graduated Nassau BOCES Barry Tech in 2013 as an esteemed member of Skills USA, the national organization for career and technical education (CTE) students.

A dynamic student leader, Kapadwala served Skills USA as President of Barry Tech, Area VI Delegate and Mediator for Conflict Resolution Training, and member of the Long Island Region VI and New York State chapters. He earned the Annual Industry Advisory Recognition Award and served as a member of the National Technical Honor Society.

Kapadwala has addressed Congress, promoted CTE to the state Legislature and State Education Department, served locally as an advocate for Long Island CTE students,

He will be honored at the awards gala held in March by the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation. The Foundation is an independent non-profit organization that raises funds for innovative educational programs that fall outside of the agency’s budget.
