Lawrence School District was a winner of a $5,000 grant from the New York Jets and the National Football League’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program. The program encourages young people to eat nutrient-rich foods and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily, to help children maintain their health.

Whitson’s that supplies the district with its food submitted the application through the school district.

Assistant Superintendent for Operations Jeremy Feder braved the rain and celebrated Lawrence’s win in a photo with a facsimile check. The Jets won also, defeating the Oakland Raiders 34-3. That made it three consecutive victories for Gang Green. Feder said that the money could be used to buy school kitchen equipment.
