Nassau Police: two men arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in Franklin Square

Two men were arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance that occurred in Franklin Square on Sept. 17, at 11:10 p.m., Nassau Police said.

After an extensive investigation by the Long Island Heroin Task Force's Narcotics/Vice Bureau detectives, for the sale of narcotics via the Internet was being conducted in the Franklin Square area, detectives were able to identify and arrest the defendants Dean J. Moran, 29, of Great Neck and Nicolas Chapman, 27, of New Hyde Park, officials said.

A subsequent investigation led to the recovery of a large assortment of narcotics that included 16.5 grams of cocaine, 13 Grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), 73 tabs of LSD, 2.5 ounces of marijuana, 71 20mg pills of Oxycodone, and liquid THC, according to police.

Moran is charged with 3 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Chapman is charged with attempted petit larceny, police said. 

Both men were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
