There is no snow but a soaking rain could led to coastal flooding, according to the  National Weather Service, then temperatures are expected to drop Sunday night into Monday resulting in icy, hazrdous conditions.

Nassau County's Grant Park at Sheridan Avenue and Broadway in Hewlett is serving as a warming center on Sunday, Jan. 20 and Monday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (516) 571-7821 for more information.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillden tweeted that the town is "prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way." She said that the town has 40,000 tons of salt to help avert road icing.

Village of Cedarhurst officials said that safety is a priority. Avoid all unnecessary travel. Take precautions when walking as the ground could be icy.

Other advice from the village includes, paying close attention to where you step. Black ice is nearly invisible and dangerous. If you see any downed wire, assume it is a live electric wire. Stay away from it, keep others away and call 911. If a wire falls on a vehicle, occupants should stay in the vehicle until help arrives. Do not touch the doors or attempt to open windows.

In case of an emergency call 911, not the 4th Precinct. For fire emergencies call your local fire department. Keep cell phones and portable power packs charged in case electric power is lost.

"Our crews are ready to roll for hazardous conditions, but I cannot empahsize this enough: please stay off the roads and stay home unless absoutely necessary,"  County Executive Laura Curran tweeted.
