Inwood resident Sasha Young was celebrated by both Assemblywoman Melissa Miller (R-Atlantic Beach) and State Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) for being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits for a Better New York - Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on March 13.

Born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia, Young has lived in the Five Towns for the past 20 years with her husband and three daughters. She has worked as a special education teacher’s aide in the Lawrence School District for 6 and a half years, and is involved in the Lawrence PTA. She also works at the Five Towns Community Center, supervising after-school education and recreation programs for children of all ages. Adding to her already-busy schedule and her existing bachelor’s degree in psychology, Sasha is also working toward her bachelor of arts in education.

“Sasha’s dedication to her community continues to amaze me,” Kaminsky said. “Her tireless work on behalf of Inwood residents is unparalleled and she is fully deserving of this honor.” “The dedication and motivation Sasha shows for her community and furthering her own studies is truly an inspiration,” Miller said.
