An truck carrying what appears to be merchandise apparently hit a tree and that ripped open a portion of its trailer around 11:30 on June 21 on Washington Avenue past Pearsall Avenue near Peninsula Boulevard in Cedarhurst.

"Scared the hell out of me," a resident posted on Facebook."I thought something big fell down in my living room. Trucks keep on using Washington Avenue like it's a commercial road. He could have taken the freshly-paved Pearsall Avenue to Rockaway Turnpike.

A village official said someone was on their way to the scene.

Police had no information at this time.
