Several local residents were glued to their television sets on Feb. 5, watching the New York Giants-New England Patriots Super Bowl XLVI game. The Giants beat the Patriots, 21-17, the fourth NFL championship in franchise history.

Nearly 25 residents attended a Super Bowl party held by Leg. Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) at his law office in Elmont, where close to $1,000 was raised at the event for Elmont’s annual Black History Month celebration — scheduled for Feb. 12, 1-5 p.m., at the Elmont Memorial Library — and dozens of residents watched the game at Croxley's Ale House in Franklin Square.
