Businesses rebound from Sandy damage from Sandy
(Page 3 of 3)
Herald File Photo
The SHOp, on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont, lost power for nearly a week. Its owner, Carl Achille, said he hopes the storm won’t hurt his bottom line.

Like Buck and the Platteduetsch, Achille said he hoped to give back to the community in any way he can. The Shop has teamed up with the First Church of God in Elmont to help with its food drive for hurricane victims, and he also plans on helping out at Elmont High School for whatever fundraisers it holds. “We’re going to do whatever we can to help everybody,” Achille said. “We’re all getting together to help each other.”
