Wright was the assistant principal at H. Frank Carey from 1987-2011. She passed away on June 27, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

During the ceremony, an overflow crowd of past and current board members, central administrators, students, faculty and colleagues gathered to pay homage to the remarkable woman by sharing memories and anecdotes. In addition, the Carey auditorium was dedicated in Wright’s memory.

Wright’s two children, mother, brother and other family members were on hand to celebrate with the Carey community. Her daughter Allison also announced that the family has established the Lorraine Wright Memorial Scholarship to be awarded at the annual Senior Awards Night. Wright’s loving spirit, generous heart and friendship will never be forgotten.
