Meyerson-Roth Co. Inc., a franchise of DCAP Insurance, has been in Long Beach since the 1930s. In 2001, it was purchased by Brian Bergman.

The agency offers flood, automobile, homeowners, rental, food, motorcycle, umbrella, business, professional liability, workman’s compensation insurances, coverage for bonds and more. Since Meyerson-Roth works with many carriers as an insurance brokerage, they can research and shop to find the best company to meet the clients’ needs. Bergman feels that the more educated the customer is, the better he can help.

“We turn over every stone to find the company that’s the right fit,” said Bergman. “We advise people to first focus on what is best for their needs, and then to look for the best price in premium. Our tag line is ‘When you buy price, you buy twice,’ meaning, if you only look at the price, you might not get the quality you need.”  Meyerson-Roth, which is made of agents and support staff, treats customers as they would treat their family.

Meyerson-Roth specializes in Flood Insurance, keeping up with all the rules as they come out. “There are volumes of rules and FEMA guidelines,” said Bergman. “We go for training. This way we can make sure that people pay the lowest possible premiums available.”

Born in Long Beach, Bergman has many ties to the community, including his family-owned Male Wear by Block clothing store (now the LB Surf shop). His mother was from the Block family. He grew up in insurance, starting at the O’Connell Lynch Agency when he was 19. His stepfather was Charles F. Lynch Jr., who had been the fire commissioner and president of the Chamber of Commerce. Bergman has served as president of both the TriCounty Independent Insurance Agents Association, and the Downstate Insurance Associations Council.

While the agency is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and by appointment, customer service is available by phone or email, 24 hours a day. If coming into the office isn’t convenient for the client, most business can be easily done via phone, email and/or fax.
