Di Rosa Haircare, on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square, was well represented in Color Zoom, a global hair-color competition, as stylist Jennifer Correale won the vote for Professional’s Choice on July 15.

Goldwell, a prestigious hair color line based in Germany, conducted the competition, which is annually held and recognizes hairstylists from around the world as they are split into three separate categories — Partner, Creative and New Talent. Five semifinalists are chosen in each of the categories. Correale won the Talent category and was not only the sole Long Islander to be nominated; she was also the only New Yorker and the only stylist from the country.

Correale, 29, worked with New York City-based photographer Greg Swales and submitted her entry in May. She used her younger cousin, Breanna Mooney, who also works as an assistant at Di Rosa, as her hair color model.

Correale was thrilled to be the recipient of such a high honor, especially since it recognized her talents in a craft she is passionate about. She said she owes her success to her boss and salon owner Rosa Hawkins.

“To even be nominated in the top five was a dream come true,” Correale said. “I live, breathe and sleep hair, and to watch your hard work get the recognition it deserves is the most rewarding feeling. Rosa is my mentor, but most of all, my friend. Without her encouragement, this journey wouldn't be possible. [She] is a natural born leader and teacher. We thrive on continuing education at Di Rosa and welcome the opportunity to new beginnings.
