Franklin Square man killed in auto accident

A Franklin Square man was killed in a car accident shortly after midnight on May 11 in West Hempstead, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, Christopher Louros, 22, was traveling westbound on Hempstead Turnpike and Morton Avenue in his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, when a 2013 Mercedes Benz 350, also traveling westbound, made a “U” turn, which caused both vehicles to crash into one another. The male driver, 45, of the Mercedes, then struck an unoccupied parked 2005 Honda Pilot.

Louros was taken to a local hospital by police ambulance and was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. There were no other injuries reported.

There is no apparent criminality at this time, police said. The motorcycle and the Mercedes were impounded for brake and safety checks.
