Bob Guarneri, center, of Franklin Square, was presented with the Town of Hempstead Veterans Service Award by, from left, Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilwoman Erin King Sweeney and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin during the town’s Salute to Veterans event on June 28 at Town Park Point Lookout. The Veterans Service Award is presented to veterans who selflessly dedicate their time and resources to helping fellow veterans in need. Guarneri, who spent four decades of distinguished service in the United States Army, is a dedicated fundraiser for homeless veterans and assists local Boy Scouts with their Eagle Projects. Guarneri has served as a member of the American Legion for the past 45 years, and was inducted into the Veterans Hall of Honor in 2014.
