Grand larceny charged

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Floral Park man for grand larceny that occurred on Friday, July 10, at 4:53 p.m. in Franklin Square.

According to detectives, Fifth Precinct officers responded to a call for larceny from an auto that occurred in the parking lot of 1040 Hempstead Turnpike. Upon their arrival they were given a description of the defendant, Daniel Cappelli, 37, of Violet Avenue, whom they located a short distance away and arrested.  A subsequent investigation by detectives discovered that on June 8, Cappelli removed property from a car in the parking lot of 740 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square. He also removed property from a parked vehicle on Holzheimer Street, Franklin Square, on July 5, and made fraudulent purchases with the victim’s credit card.

Cappelli is charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, petit larceny, third-degree forgery and third-degree identity theft. He was to be arraigned on Saturday, July 11, at First District Court in Hempstead.
