Man arrested for Franklin Square robbery

Nassau Police and the Fifth Precinct report an arrest for robbery which happened on Saturday at 9:20 p.m. in Franklin Square.

According to detectives, a man entered the gas station located at 1111 Hempstead Turnpike wearing a black ski mask and demanded the clerk give him money by threatening to hurt him. The clerk complied, giving him an undisclosed amount of cash. A witness saw the man leave the scene in a car. 

That witness saw the vehicles license plate, giving that information to police. After an investigation the vehicle was located parked in front of 1159 Russell Street. The defendant, identified as Nicholas Piorkowski, 19, of 1159 Russell Street, Franklin Square, was seen exiting the vehicle and was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of two glassine envelopes of heroin during arrest processing. No injuries were reported.

Piorkowski is charged with Robbery 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree.  He was arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
