Man dies in F.S. crash

Police report the details of a fatal auto accident that occurred on Sunday, July 26, at 2:41 p.m. in Franklin Square.

According to detectives, while traveling south bound on Franklin Avenue in her 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, Vincenza Grizzaffi, 85 of Elmont, attempted to make a left turn onto Oaks Drive and was involved in a collision with a 2011 Infiniti G37 driven by a 25 year old male that was traveling north bound on Franklin Ave.

As a result of the collision, Grizzaffi suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased shortly after by a staff physician. The male driver, who suffered a broken leg, was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The investigation into this non-criminal accident continues. Both vehicles were impounded from the scene for brake and safety checks.
