Queens woman arrested after crashing into cop car in Elmont

Nassau County Police have arrested a Queens woman for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident.

According to police, Tanaisha Ferrell, 24, of Saint Albans crashed her 2007 BMW into a police car in the parking lot of 1797 Dutch Broadway on Sept. 5. Ferrell then fled westbound on Dutch Broadway at a high rate of speed, ignoring the efforts of police to have her stop.

She was driving recklessly, disregarding several traffic control devices and striking an unoccupied vehicle while turning onto Louis Avenue, police said. She was eventually stopped on the dead end of Huntley Road and places under arrest. Police found her 1 year-old son in the back of her car and brought him to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Ferrell is charged with reckless driving, unlawful fleeing of a police officer and endangering the welfare of a child. She was arraigned on Sept. 6 at First District Court in Hempstead.
