Nassau Police and the Fifth Precinct are investigating an incident that occurred yesterday at 8:20 p.m. in Elmont.

According to detectives, while inside their Renfrew Avenue home, the occupants, a 51 year old female, 52 year old male and an 11 year old male, heard what sounded like gunshots occurring outside the front of their residence. Upon further investigation they found a bullet hole in a bedroom window. The bullet also made an additional hole through the bedroom wall, and came to rest in an adjacent closet. No injuries were reported.

A subsequent investigation by detectives and interviews conducted at neighboring homes are leading detectives to believe that a dark or black colored SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee was involved as it was seen fleeing the area immediately following the gunshots. At this time detectives believe that this was a random act and the occupants of the home were not targeted.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
