Students and trustees honored in Elmont

Students participating in Elmont School District’s Model UN program or Jazz Masters Ensemble were honored by Board of Education members at their March meeting, which was held at Gotham Avenue School.

Each of the students was acknowledge with a certificate of recognition by their principal, before shaking hands with board members.

Members of the Jazz Masters Ensemble performed at the meeting, and delighted the audience with an outstanding rendition of “Route 66.” The group is looking forward to their Jazz Masters Concert on March 25 at 7 p.m. at Gotham Avenue School and invited members of the community to attend.

Superintendent of Schools Al Harper acknowledge Board Trustees Tameka Battle-Burkett and Patrick Emeagwali, as the pair received New York State School Board Association’s Board of Excellence awards.
