Long Island roots

Another key part of his group’s proposal, said Blumenfeld, is to incorporate local universities, including Nassau Community College and Hofstra University. With Hofstra’s current expansion of its medical school, he said the possibility of adding student housing near the Coliseum would be considered.

Blumenfeld Development has completed approximately 40 projects in Long Island, including the arches in Deer Park, and a Lifetime Fitness gym in Syosset. They’ve also developed the East River Plaza in Manhattan. “I think that it’s important that we’re local,” said Blumenfeld. “I think it’s important that we have no competition within our own group. That we’re here from Long Island, we are for Long Island, that we want to make Long Island a better place.”
