Members of Valley Stream School District 13 assembled for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a “Kickoff” of the $32 million bond that recently passed.

School Board President William P. Stris cut the ribbon in front of the recently donated electric sign outside of the district office, which was installed by the Valley Stream School District 13 Educational Foundation. PTA members, former and present school board members, school administration and other community residents were in attendance for the ceremony.

The $32 million bond will cover upgrades to Wheeler Avenue School, James A. Dever School, Willow Road School and Hollow Road School.

“We are indeed grateful to our community for their forward thinking in approving this bond,” Stris said, according to a press release provided to the Herald. “These funds will go a long way toward modernizing all of our learning spaces and bringing our buildings into the 21st century, giving our children and our community the schools they deserve.”
