Far Rockaway resident charged with DWI

Driving south along Sheridan Boulevard in Inwood, Kenny Barrios, 30, of Far Rockaway, lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to navigate the winding portion of the roadway, near Mott Avenue, according to police and crashed into an MTA Access-A-Ride bus at 12:55 a.m. on July 15.

Fourth Precinct police and the Inwood Fire Department responded, using the “Jaws of Life” tool to extricate the Barrios from the wreck. The two passengers on the bus reported back and neck pain, and Barrios had several facial cuts, police said. All three were taken to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment..

Sheridan Boulevard was closed between Oak Avenue and Spalding Lane as crews removed the debris.

Barrios was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and five other related charges. His next court date is July 19.
