Elmont woman kidnapped, Brooklyn man arrested

Nassau Police arrested a Brooklyn man for kidnapping his girlfriend on June 7 at 12:30 a.m. in Elmont.

According to police, defendant Arturo Gurley, 20, of Navy Walk, Brooklyn, met his 19 year old girlfriend at a location in Elmont. Gurley convinced his girlfriend to exit her vehicle, where he then proceeded to take the victim's cell phone and keys and pushed her inside of the trunk and closed it. Then he drove off.  About 45 minutes later the car stopped and the defendant let the victim out of the car, where she noticed she was in Brooklyn. Gurley walked the woman inside his apartment, placed a sock inside her mouth and duct taped her mouth shut. The woman was in the apartment for about 5 hours before she was finally released unharmed. Then she drove home and notified police. 

On June 9, defendant Gurley was placed under arrest at 1:50 p.m. in Brooklyn without incident.  He is being charged with second degree kidnapping, second degree unlawful imprisonment, obstruction of breathing, and third degree unauthorized use of a vehicle

He was arraigned, also on June 9, at First District Court, Hempstead.
